Cash prizes for winning your adult division!

(Feb. 5, 2004) — Please see updated information on prize eligibility (below) and the revised Commissioner's Cup schedule (see link above).

The Michiana Region is proud to announce a new divisional competition that features cash prizes when your team wins! Following are details for the 2004 Michiana Region Commissioner's Cup Challenge.

Only Michiana Region registered adult teams are eligible for the awards in the Commissioner's Cup Challenge.

Sanctioned tournament eligibility: There must be a minimum of four (4) Michiana Region registered teams in a division in order for that particular division of a sanctioned tournament final standings to count toward the point totals and the year end cash awards. If there are registered out-of-region teams participating in a division, points will be awarded to Michiana Region teams based on their actual final finishing place in that division.

Team and player eligibility: The team must be a registered adult team in Michiana Region for the 2004 season. The players must be registered members of that team for the 2004 season. It is up to each team and its players to determine if the acceptance of cash awards is an eligibility problem.

PLEASE NOTE CHANGES: There have been changes to the original tournament schedule, tournament cancellations due to the lack of entries and tournaments held that did not have the minimum number of teams per division as required to count toward point allotments. Changes have been made on the schedule for tournaments that count toward the Challenge Cup totals. See below for a change in the minimum number tournaments a team has to participate in to qualify for the year ending point totals.

In order to be eligible for the Cup Challenge final standings the team must have competed in a minimum of three of the sanctioned tournaments in their division listed in the Cup Challenge schedule. It is to a team's advantage to compete in as many of the listed tournaments as possible, see Determination of Points Awarded below.

In order to be eligible for the Cup Challenge final standings the team must have played in the above-mentioned minimum events in the same division that they will compete in at our Regional Championships, and/or the Central Zone and/or the USA Volleyball Open Championships.

Failure to abide by any of these eligibility rules removes a team and its players from contention for the season-ending final cash awards. The award checks will be issued after the 2004 USA Volleyball Open Championships.

Determination of points awarded: Points will be awarded based on the final place of finish in each division of the tournaments listed on the Cup Challenge Schedule. If there are two Michiana Region registered teams tied for third place, those third place points will be split. If there is a tie for third place and only one of those teams is a registered Michiana Region team, one-half of the allotted third place points will be awarded. Un-awarded points are not cumulative.

1st place — 5 points
2nd place — 4 points
3rd place — 3 points
Entered and participated — 2 points

Monetary year-end awards:

$1,000 each division:
1st place — $500
2nd place — $300
3rd place — $200
